​As many of you know Derrick and I have always wanted a home full of children, laughter and love. We currently have 2 beautiful children Karsen, a beautiful 14 year old girl full of life Derrick's biological daughter through a previous marriage and Preston, a spunky 8 year old boy that is always on the go. We were originally told that we would not be able to have biological children of our own due to infertility but that wasn't Gods plan as He did bless us with Preston. We have tried unsuccessfully to have another child for 6 years. We still felt that it wasn't the end of our journey that we were still supposed to have a growing family. Over the past several months, Derrick and I have been asking God to challenge us to step away from the ordinary and to open our hearts to other ways to grow our family. Through this process our eyes were opened and our hearts broken for the millions of orphans worldwide. As we researched and prayed, we began to feel God lead us towards international adoption to rescue an orphan and provide him with a forever family.
God led us to Vanya, a 13 year with a heart full of love and a smile that could melt your heart. He lost his family 5 years ago and has been living in an orphanage in Ukraine since. We were able to host him this summer to come live with our family for 5 weeks. Upon meeting him we KNEW he was meant to be our son. He blended so well and instantly bonded with our other children. It was as if he had always been here. Our love for him continues to grow daily.
