Wheelchair modified vehicle for Hana

Donation protected

Thank you for visiting our GoFundme page. This page has been set up to help raise funds for a wheelchair accessible vehicle for our daughter Hana. Hana is a beautiful 5 year old with multiple challenging diagnoses since her premature birth which includes quadriplegic Cerebral palsy and an extremely rare from of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome which occurs in only 1:1000000 people causing nearly 100 untreatable seizures a day and requires 24 hours care.

Hana is unable to support herself and can only get around in her wheelchair. At the moment Hana uses specialised car seat in our current car however this is no longer suitable for her as she has now developed horrible scoliosis in her spine which has also caused a permanent semi-dislocated hip. Hana also suffers from severe Dystonia which is muscle movement disorder. Not only is it very painful for her but she also moves her body constantly. The safest way for her to travel is being in her wheelchair that has been modified to her specific needs. At the moment we have to dismantle and put again together her wheelchair every time we go out, we then have to carry Hana. It is very heavy and only Hana’s dad can lift the chair in our current car.

Despite all of this Hana still loves her life to the full and on her good days she enjoys going to school and taking trips with her family and her therapy dog Lulu. On top of everything else Hana has therapy three times a week, and has weekly appointments at Monash Children’s Hospital. This year we have also received further bad news as due to Hana’s progressing Scoliosis and her partially dislocated left hip Hana will require a full hip reconstruction as well as surgery to correct her spine. To have a car modified for her wheelchair will be life changing for Hana and us as a family. She will no longer need to be transferred from one chair to another and it will mean she can socialise with her friends and family more often. Hana’s biggest hero is her brother Jackson. Jackson is 8 years old and suffers from Autism and ADHD, he is also non verbal.

We are lucky that NDIS will most likely pay for the modification however to pass the requirements we need near new vehicle. We are reaching out and asking for help from anyone that is in position to do so.

Thank you.
