New London Ledge Lighthouse Preservation Plan

Please help us raise the remaining $5,000 -- the balance due -- for a Preservation Plan for New London Ledge Lighthouse. Won't you help us preserve this beloved historic landmark?

Last fall, the New London Maritime Society commissioned a Preservation Plan for New London Ledge Lighthouse from architects Walter Sedovic and Jill Gotthelf. Together, by February 2023, with $2,617 online + $2,500 in in-person donations: we raised the $5,000 deposit on the plan!

Before starting repairs this season, we must have a comprehensive & holistic assessment of the building made; this is what we did with the two other lighthouses that the New London Maritime Society owns: New London Harbor Light and Race Rock Lighthouse. The assessment and resulting preservation plan will provide a step-by-step road map for all repairs going forward.

In 2021, Ledge Lighthouse received a donation of $100,000 for these repairs. The conditions assessment/preservation plan will identify significant elements that we should be careful to retain and preserve. We need to keep the lighthouse in good repair while preserving Ledge Lighthouse's distinctive character.
