New Life Birthing Centers

Over the past year I have been focusing my attention on international midwifery. This summer my family and I went to southern Ecuador to work with New Life Birthing Centers. It was an incredible experience and I really loved getting to know the founder's heart for global maternity care. They are some of the most generous people you will ever meet. They have poured so much of their personal money and resources into New Life and still give to others without missing a beat. When I was there we went to a local high school to teach a sex Ed seminar and visit a local community hospital. It was a poor area with few resources and they made sure to bring the clinic anything they needed to keep things running. They did that out of her own finances without expecting anything in return. It really touched me to see someone who is already doing more then most of us do on a regular basis go the extra mile to help others. New life Birthing Centers is a non profit organization offering free maternity care to low income areas internationally. They have a birth center in Southern Ecuador and are in the process of opening another center in the Dominican Republic. They also have several sister birthing centers in Africa they help when they can. This past September New Life invited me to come with her to Ethiopia to bring lab equipment to start a lab at a very remote clinic and birthing center about 5 hours from Addis Ababa. It was such an incredible trip for me because my oldest son, Addis, who is now 7 is from Ethiopia. I am so honored to help New Life and the work they are doing in any way I can. Over the next few months I am working on fundraising for them as they open the Dominican Center. Most of what they have done so far has been out of their own pocket and thanks to amazing people who have donated medical supplies. In order to sustain what they do in Latin American they need people like you to get involved financially. I would like to set up a go fund me account on their behalf. If you would like to get involved more and host a small get together with your small group or friends to share more about this organization let me know and I am happy to come share about it. Some of you are looking for ways to give back, especially with the holidays coming up. This is a well worth it cause. In the developing world women and infants die everyday due to lack of safe care and resources. Not only does New Life offer safe care to families like this, but they also make sure to love people well and give them an experience that they could never otherwise have access to in their communities. I have worked in local hospitals in these areas and seen the difference in what New Life gives, they humanize birth.
