Dear Reader,
Thank you for taking the time to read Bonnie’s Story…
We are raising money to support our beloved Chow Chow Bonnie, as she currently requires urgent treatment for a cruciate ligament rupture, causing her to be lame in her back right leg and is causing her severe pain. This treatment is not currently covered under her insurance policy as the allotted funds have sadly been depleted over the course of the last year due to the cost of multiple tests, various medications and a severe bought of septic arthritis that took over 10 weeks to subside. This has been upwards of 8 months of treatment, and it has taken ongoing investigations since Christmas to get to this stage, so any donation from any of you animal lovers out there would be greatly appreciated. As the last thing we want is to have to make the unspeakable decision just because we can no longer afford to continue her treatment. We thank you kindly for any support you can give our beloved Bonnie during these difficult times.
What we know is that Bonnie was born in August 2019 in Hungary and was later brought over to the UK as a family pet at some point during the Covid-19 lockdown episodes (although we suspect this to be more for breading and as a source of income) and that the owner put her up for adoption soon after a hysterectomy.
We adopted Bonnie in March 2022, and within 8 months and after multiple tests our poor girl was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis of all four major joints in the legs. She has been on multiple medications and supplements of varying strengths for the last 18 months to keep her as comfortable as we can. We are used to Bonnie being worse with her joints/arthritis during the winter times and make full allowances for this including carrying a 25-kilo dog home from half a walk when she has had enough and one occasion this led to my husband been asked if he was carrying a sheep (lol). Unfortunately, this year she just never got better, and we have spent the last 8 months trying to find out why. Firstly we were told her arthritis was in flamed so we treated that, then they found the septic arthritis so we treated that and now the rupture. It's so sad, our beloved beautiful girl just can't catch a break.
Bonnie is a happy go lucky girl who loves chicken treats, her soft toys, a good knuckle rub to the ear and is always please to see people and their pooches to say hello. All we want to do is help her live her best life in relative comfort and would be hugely grateful of any support you can give to help us achieve this. Our girl has had such a hard time, and we just want to keep her happy for as long as we can.
