Nepal: Google-Raleigh Project

Donation protected
Hi world,

In collaboration with sustainable development charity Raleigh International,  I am fundraising for a very special trip to Nepal where i will work with young entrepreneurs who are eager to learn more about running a successful micro-enterprise.

For two weeks in September, a group of 20 Googlers working across Europe,  will work closely with Nepalese entrepreneurs to provide training and coaching in topics such as business planning, marketing, online assets, data collection and analysis, accessing new markets, sales, research, team management.

Essentially, mentoring them to develop their very own recently-launched business.

If you know me personally, you know how important it is for me, to be giving back by empowering young entrepreneurs to succeed and gain an understanding of the issues surrounding the sustainable development of communities by creating lasting change.

Why do I need to fundraise?
All of your contributions will be then matched by Google (x2), and enable the group and myself to have an impact once on the ground, covering the following costs:

In-country transport (including to/from airport)
Accommodation
Food
All project kit
Training weekend (exc. possible travel)
Fieldbase medic while in Nepal
24/7 communications support with both Raleigh fieldbase in Nepal and Raleigh in London
Safety management including casualty evacuation if required
Raleigh volunteer coordinator to support on fundraising, medical questions, flights, admin
Raleigh account manager to oversee the programme
Project Managers and translators in Nepal

I will not be fundraising for other expenses like Flights, Visa, Vaccinations.

I wholeheartedly thank you for your support!

More Info on the organization and Nepal:

Who is Raleigh International?
Raleigh International is a youth-focused international development organisation that ensures young people are at the heart of sustainable change around the world. We believe in creating lasting change through youth in four key areas; livelihoods; natural resource management; water, sanitation and hygiene and youth in civil society.

Nepal
Nepal is the second poorest country in Asia, with a quarter of its population surviving on less than $1.90 a day. A growing route out of poverty for young people, who make up 40% of the 26 million Nepalese population, is through setting up their own business which can prevent rural youth seeking work abroad and enables them to generate their own income.

Positive steps have been taken to support young people to start businesses, but like any business they require further ongoing training and support to make their new businesses sustainable. This is where we would step in and continue to upskill the young entrepreneurs to grow their enterprises.
