Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Jane Sheedy, and I’m writing on behalf of my brother, Neil Hartery. I am trying to raise money for Neil and his family. He was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) in late April of 2019.
Since April, he has been undergoing inpatient and outpatient treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has gone through Induction and Consolidation Therapies and had a Bone Marrow transplant. Neil was fortunate to receive his brother Owen’s stem cells for the transplant on July 22nd and was discharged on August 8th to his home in Westford with his wife and their children.
We are hopeful of Neil’s medical prognosis and are praying for a full recovery from Leukemia. We know Neil has the will and determination to fight this cancer as he has struggled in the past with throat cancer. This Bone Marrow transplant protocol requires him to be in a germ-free environment with restrictions for 3 months. After the 3 months, he will need to build up his immune system which can take up to 2 years.
Due to the extreme nature of his illness and recovery, he is unable to work, especially as a self-employed electrician. The money raised will be used to support the family while Neil recovers. He will need to remain under close medical watch at Massachusetts General Hospital to ensure that his new blood system develops, strengthens, and maintains itself.
His family is doing all that they can to safeguard Neil’s physical and emotional care during this difficult and delicate time.
Please consider donating to Neil and his family to support them through this journey of recovery. It would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you for your continued prayers and positive thoughts and wishes.
