Raising funds for Neil Allen´s recovery

This fundraising is to help my partner Neil Allen who suffered a stroke January 2025 and has been recovering in hospital and rehabilitation units since then. Neil is currently in Mallorca slowly gaining use of his limbs in a unit dedicated to helping him with physio, OT and speech therapy.

After the stroke, Neil lost the use of his right leg and arm. However, his recovery is progressing and he is now able to walk with a stick and has some movement in his arm. Thankfully Neil´s personality is still there and he is able to speak quite well and has not damaged those parts of his brain. We understand that recovery differs for each person and so we are taking the small daily wins as promising signs of full recovery. But healing is not linear and with this recovery there are times of total exhaustion and the feeling that he is not progressing. The unit he is in is helping him gain more confidence and have faith again in the right side of his body. They are doing a great job, but the hospital environment is not supportive of good nutrition and is not a place he can get good sleep as he has to share a room. We want Neil to be back home in his beloved Ibiza and to receive other therapies to accompany the physio he has been receiving. We have access to a new wellness centre on Ibiza which has a hyperbaric oxygen chamber plus a host of other therapies. There have been incredible studies about the effectiveness of HBOT in stroke recovery and we understand it will encourage faster healing or neuropathways to help him gain full use of his limbs. Only when the brain begins to heal can there be full use of the physical body. Along with this treatment we want to get him acupuncture and Osteopathy and any other therapies that will aid him to get well. This centre has a whole range of treatments that can help him get back to full health and mobility.

Neil is a big personality and is known on Ibiza as the man who can do anything. He has helped so many people with anything from fixing a car, moving furniture, cooking incredible meals for many people all over the island. Often he has done a lot for people without expecting payment if they really need it. The Ibiza community have been supportive to Neil and myself in many ways and we are so grateful. But Neil wants to get back out there cooking for people and producing amazing food and events that he loves to do. In the meantime we need some extra support to get him the therapy he needs, the right equipment and also to keep a roof over our heads whilst he recovers and our income is compromised. We are expecting Neil to be able to return home at the end of April and so I need to set things in place to enable his transition back home and into different healing modalities. Its really important that he is able to return home soon as 3 months away have taken their toll on his emotional wellbeing.

Please donate as much or as little as you can so we can get him the help he needs and deserves and get him home out of a clinical hospital environment into the peace of the countryside of Ibiza.
