Neighbours Helping Neighbours was created in the wake of COVID-19 to assist those in need. The elderly are struggling to source essential items (food, toilet paper, tissues, etc.) in our community. Our founder started a Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/neighbourshelpingneighboursau) with multiple Facebook Groups connecting able-bodied people with those who are not on social media and may struggle to source essential items.
Neighbours Helping Neighbours is a 100% ZERO CONTACT FREE not-for-profit charity. Please visit our website (www.neighbourshelpingneighbours.com.au) to understand how we operate.
This Go Fund Me page has been specifically set up to raise money for the administrative costs BEHIND our organisation. There are certain legal steps we need to follow to protect ourselves and our elderly - and they cost money.
Any money donated will go towards one of the following:
1. Insurance. We are still collecting quotes for insurance. Ballpark figures at this stage are around $1,000 to $1,500 a year.
2. Used to register our organisation as a incorporated association ($216). This is required BEFORE we can apply to become an Australian Charities & Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC) (source: https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/family-and-community/community-organisations/setting-up-a-community-organisation/incorporate-an-association). Registering with the ACNC is FREE, but this step is required prior.
3. Used to register our organisation as a Registrable Australian body ($408). This is required if our organisation starts operating outside South Australia - required only IF it happens. 4. Other administrative costs (e.g. a Zoom account, marketing materials, website fees, etc).
All of our finances and expenditures will become public to our formal Public Members. It is extremely important that Neighbours Helping Neighbours is completely transparent with any funds received.
At Neighbours Helping Neighbours, we want to do something positive with our time while we social-distance. We are volunteers. We are kind. We are empathetic. We share. We care. We give. We love. We are Neighbours Helping Neighbours.
