We Got This is a 501(c)(3) non-profit marketplace exclusively for cancer patients and their supporters — connecting patients and loved ones across the globe through an online collective of products and services.
My name is Elissa Kalver and my hope is that We Got This will be the silver lining to my cancer experience. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer July of 2021, at the age of 34, and just a few days before my daughter’s first birthday. I was overwhelmed with the love and support of family and friends who reached out asking what they can do and how they can help. It meant the world to me, but I realized — I had no idea how they could help. I had never been through any of this before!
I thought to myself: what if there was something like a wedding or baby registry (why should those cuties have all the fun?) that could showcase all of the things the patient needed. The things that may seem small, but are actually really big when it comes to the nagging symptoms from treatment. For me it was products like Bombas Socks for my toe infections, Crocs for easy slip ons when I was hooked up to my infusions, and some easy snacks like Bantam Bagels when I couldn't stomach much else. And not just products, but eventually services, too. Like haircuts to prepare for hair loss, eyebrow microblading, facials, and even just a general miscellaneous expense fund if they choose. So many people in our lives want to help us through this journey — and it’s so often wasted on things that aren’t what we need!
I started We Got This to create a resource that will help cancer patients to feel empowered, strong, and comfortable not only throughout their treatment — but the rest of their life in general.
We plan to continue expanding the site, building new partnerships with carefully-vetted businesses and grow our list of product offerings for the cancer community. Since first launching our GoFundMe page, we have launched a beta version of our site with the marketplace and have already developed some amazing partnerships with brands such as Crocs, Bombas, and Bantam Bagels. We have a lot more work to do and a lot more people to reach! Will you help us spread our mission of helping cancer patients and their loved ones everywhere?
