SOPHIE

I'm an ABC.  Not "Another Bloody Chic" as someone once asked, but an American Born Chinese.   I loved the arts since I was a child, dancing on stage, performing in theater and a few times with my mother in her Chinese Opera.  Being in the entertainment industry for years, I noticed how low representation is for people of color, particularly Asians.  And how often times in film and TV they didn't have a voice.

I've always wanted to tell stories that are real, authentic and relevant.  And, as an Asian American I want to give voice for people like myself who experience what everyone experiences.  And when we share we allow others to share.  We are not alone.

My web series has been in the works for a long time and co-written with Kazu Kusano, a Japanese American comedian.
SOPHIE, is a story of an Asian American Chinese who begins her new life in LA as a single woman after a 20 year marriage while pursuing her dream with the unexpected stay of her mother.  It shows the need to reinvent oneself through seasons of life and how listening to our heart is empowering. It also captures the struggle of tradition and expectations through the relationship between the mother and daughter.  It's a story of identity, propriety and empowerment.

I can't tell my story without you. Your support will make this dream project happen. They will cover production costs for an award-winning director, cinematographer, producer, sound, lighting, costume design, locations, and food for our hard-working crew.  There is a lot that goes into making a film.  Without the funds, the story won't be told. Filming is scheduled soon.
