It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Veronica really didn’t want me to do this, but my heart is on my sleeve. My Wife, Best friend, Veronica Guerra Molina, just received the most devastating news of our lives. This week she was diagnosed with ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA. Doctors say it is a swift and aggressive cancer. Veronica has dedicated her life to helping others: starting with her family, she gladly served our community as an LVN for four years and as an RN for eight years. She was set to graduate from her Nurse Practitioner program in December 2022. That has been put on hold for now. She loved to help people; she’d spend a little extra time with patients and families to put a smile on their faces or a little more ease and confidence in their hearts.
She is currently being treated at Main Methodist Hospital. However, she has the opportunity to be treated by the Director of the Leukemia program at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. She really believes this is her best option for treatment to have more time with our kids Jayson, who is 10 and Jaxon, who is 3. They want nothing more than to have their momma back home.
I completely understand that this economic inflation is not making it easy on anyone. However, anything helps. Trying to get her transferred to Houston, the rising cost of the healthcare systems and Veronica not being able to work doing what she loves it’s taking a toll on our family. She is staying strong and optimistic, as we all are. She’s smiling and saying, “I’m going to walk out of here.” Like every hard-working mother/wife/sister/daughter/nurse/caregiver/student, she is genuinely one of the SUPERWOMEN out there; but every once in a while, even though I hate to ask:
SUPERWOMEN sometimes need help too!
