Trial Cancer Treatment

THIS CAMPAIGN IS TO HELP SAVE A MOTHER OF 2 YOUNG BOYS, A DEVOTED WIFE OF MORE THAN 20 YEARS AND MY VERY BEST FRIEND.

And I know I'm not the only one that calls Lisa Sommerhauser their very best friend because she is an absolute light to everyone she meets.  

She is an amazing and hilarious mom to her 2 boys, 16 and 14 years. She and her husband are an absolute storybook love story.  She is an animal lover like you have never seen before.  She has a 40 pound rabbit named Bowser that OWNS HER, along with her horse, Riley, 3 dogs and pack of turtles.  Lisa is a devoted Christian at Heart of the Canyons Church and has a heart the size of Texas.  Her home is always the command post for all neighborhood parades, bbq's, parties and horse ride gatherings. 

Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago.  She endured the surgery, chemotherapy, baldness, fatigue and all that goes with this miserable disease.  Lisa would never ask for a handout or a loan; therefore, she continued her fulltime job as a court reporter even while wearing her pink wig and fighting the urge to vomit.  We were all so thrilled when Lisa completed the chemo regiment and was given a status of remission.  Fast forward 2 years and she began feeling excrutiating pain in her back and hips.   She went to a general doctor and a chiropractor who assured her she had bruised a rib and would be fine.  Lisa continued to work but was in so much pain she had to be driven to her jobs in downtown Los Angeles (from Simi Valley).  Lisa noticed that her vision had become very blurry and thought it was from so many hours at the computer and went to Costco for a new eye glass prescription.  It was a Costco Optometrist that saw a mass behind her right eye which turned out to be the return of her breast cancer which had metastisized to her eye......and lungs and liver and ankle and neck and brain and spine.  The pains that Lisa had endured for the previous 6 months was an undetected and untreated breast cancer.  She has lost the vision in her right eye and has been unable to perform her duties and passion as a court reporter.  She misses her clients and peers and is desperate to get back to what she has worked so hard to build for the past 20 years.

As of now, of course, the doctors are radiating, chemo'ing, probing, prodding everything that is FDA approved but there has been no positive results from these treatments.

Though exhausted, Lisa knows that breast cancer is survivable and she is determined to do EVERYTHING she can to see her boys graduate from college and celebrate her golden wedding anniversary.

  In Lisa's desperate race against time and options, she has come across a new treatment that is not covered by insurance and, to some, seems contraversial regarding its effectiveness.  In my last conversation with Lisa, she spoke the exact words that I would be saying in her position......."I have to try everything that could save my life."    We need the funds immediately as the clock is ticking.  ANY AMOUNT IS A BLESSING, LIFE SAVER AND APPRECIATED.
