Driving Away Hunger and Loneliness

Tax deductible
TLC Meals on Wheels must relocate to a new kitchen facility by December 2019!

With the passage of the Littleton Public School bond this past November, our current kitchen and office location in the re-purposed Ames Elementary School will be rebuilt and again used for students, so we need to move.

In 2018 , more than 800 seniors and home bound adults in south Metro Denver relied on us for 128,000 meals and daily visits from volunteer drivers.  If our ability to provide these meals is interrupted it will have an immediate, detrimental impact on the well-being and independence of seniors in our community.

As one of our clients recently told us "seniors are invisible.  We cannot leave our homes without the help of others to go to dinner, visit friends, or attend community events. We are not seen. The visits from the friendly volunteer drivers give us a reason to get up and get dressed. They are truly a  blessing."

All options are being considered: leasing a commercial kitchen space, purchasing our own building and/or forming a new partnership to help defray costs are some possibilities.  When we move we will need a functioning commercial kitchen with the capability to cook 500 meals every morning.

Our needs may include (based on where we move):
Walk In Freezer
Walk In Cooler
Ventilation Hood
Hood Fire Suppression System
Mixer ‐ Floor Standing
Ovens
Undercounter Icemaker
Commercial Range
Dishwasher
Stainless Steel Counters
Big Worktable
Serving Line (Assembly & Seal)
Handwash Sink & Faucet
Freestanding Shelving
Can Racks
Mobile Utility Pan Transport
Kitchen Flooring & Base Tile
Kitchen Drains & Plumbing (incl concrete sawcut, drains,
piping, connections & concrete repair)
Kitchen Electrical Service
Contractor and Builder Services

This is uncharted territory for us and our timeline is short, but we trust that with the support of our community we will find the best scenario for the longevity of the organization. We must ensure that the seniors who rely on us now and into the future have access to hot nutritious meals and a friendly face at the door from TLC.

Together, we make a difference in the lives of the seniors we serve, every day, and will continue to do so for years to come.
