Over the past three years I've had the opportunity to work closely with some of the most beautiful women in the performance industry. These women are the most hard working, creative, strong and inspiring people I've ever met.
After being a performer and audience member in plays, theatrical performances, circus shows and cabarets, I started to see a trend developing. Nothing thrills me more than the many talents thrown together in a variety show, such as aerielists and contourtionists. However, in the same way nothing thrills me like experiencing interesting characters and concepts conveyed in plays and physical theatre.
So after much thought and planning in 2016, I've decided to spend 2017 investing in myself and the skilful people i've come to admire so much.
I'm creating a narrative movement piece that encorporates all the elements I love. Mixing raw talent with creative storytelling through music and movement. Incorporating the wow factor of circus skill and dance with the simplistic structure of a play narrative. A story about a woman living out the life that she created for herself and realising, "what if there is more to me than this?" She embarks on a journey where she meets different individuals that highlight the many facets of being a woman and embracing those differences equally and proudly. A story we all can relate to about breaking out of your carefully created mould and finding the many different versions of yourself.
I'm looking to raise money to cover some of the larger costs e.g, venue, lighting, cast etc. Whatever I raise I will match by half and your contribution would be a huge gesture to helping me create something I feel is very different to anything out there currently.
Help me on this journey of creation to inspire you all and perhaps leave you wondering "Is there more to me than what I am today.?"
