My Volunteer Dental Mission Trip!

Hello, everybody! For all who don't already know, I am currently in school at Winona State University as an undergraduate studying Biology and Biochemistry, preparing to attend Dental School in the future to become a General Dentist. I have always had a passion for the dental field; when I was young I was the go-to if any neighborhood kid  had a wiggly tooth! Since then, I knew exactly what I wanted to pursue when I became older. As of today, I have been a volunteer for the Good Samaritan Dental Clinic as a chair-side dental assistant, and have observed multiple dentists from many different clinics in Rochester and the surrounding area. I also volunteer at the Adult Day Care Center through the Salvation Army, where I give my time to the elderly, keeping them company and making conversation, serving lunch, and encouraging participation in different activites held through out the day. I enjoy caring for other people and have a strong passion for people in general. The reason I have created this page is because an opportunity of a life time has crossed my path: a dental mission trip through VIDA Volunteer where I will be traveling to Guatemala over winter break to participate in giving free dental care to citizens who normally dont have access to it. I will be working along side certified dentists, assissting them with different procedures, as well as giving genuine care to the patients. Although it is a volunteer trip, there are fees involved. Being a full-time student working only a few hours a week makes it very tough to cover all of the costs involved. The program upfront fee is $1,700, which does not include airfare. This is why I set a goal of $2,500.

Ultimately, I would do just about anything to get the chance to participate in this extraordinary opportunity. The support of my family and friends would mean the world to me, and I can not put into words how much I would appreciate any support any one would be willing to offer! I would be honored to be involved in this trip and I know I will come out of it a better person. I sincerely and genuinely thank everyone in advance for considering helping me with this opportunity.
