Help For the Ingram Family

"I can't live like this," I thought at one of my lowest points. Wow! That scared me! I knew my faith was strong, but I felt so broken by the chronic pain I had endured for nine months at that point. God is Good! He never lets us suffer more than we can bear. I believe that!

I know that things are tough all over. I hesitated about asking for help. I guess I’m not too proud to beg. I am thankful for those who have helped in the past. I am always grateful for prayers. I believe they are what has helped me endure this terrible condition. I dare not ask you to donate again, but I will boldly ask that you share my story with your email and social contacts.

For over a year and a half (20 months at this writing), I have been afflicted with a debilitating disease called PostHerpetic Neuralgia. The affliction came as the aftermath of a terrible case of Shingles in my left eye, head and face! At 71 years of age, I was the perfect victim of the reemerging Chicken Pox Virus, which had been dormant in my body since childhood. I was stricken with head and left eye pains and then diagnosed on November 13, 2020. I endured the painful Shingles episode for a few weeks, but once the ugly blisters ruptured and began to disappear, the terrible nerve damage struck me with a vengeance! Called Post Herpetic Neuralgia, the Trigeminal Nerve part of this horrible condition is nicknamed "the Suicide Disease" because of its' painful itching, burning, electric-like shocks, and constant pains! I understand how it can drive a sufferer to despair.

My faith in God and the prayers of friends and family have given me the strength to wrestle with my illness daily. Multiple pain medications taken several times each day help manage my chronic pains. I am thankful that my condition has slowly improved. But I must admit I suffer from bouts of depression, which is common after severe nerve damage.

My wife, Susan, aches and cries for me during my worst bouts of pain. We pray together for strength and patience. I was forced into being housebound for three months except for doctor appointments. My left eye was swollen shut! Susan was my driver.

I have worked part-time jobs since retiring and moving to Florida in 2013. My job as a delivery driver for Uber Eats came to a sudden stop when I was stricken with Shingles. My wife and I drained our savings for more than a year to pay medical bills, co-pays, and growing household expenses. Our social security payments don't go far enough.

"When you find yourself in a position to help someone, be happy because God is answering that person's prayers through you."

Now is when the Ingram family must prayerfully seek the help of others. Although I can work part-time again, delivering UberEats 20 hours some weeks, the household bills and medical co-pays continue to grow. In addition, specialists like Neurologists and MRIs are expensive, even with Medicare.

If our campaign goal is reached, we will be able to pay down credit card debt that accumulated during the year I was unable to work, as well as new bills!

Even without making a cash donation during these times of struggle for many families, our family would greatly appreciate your prayers for our strength and healing.
