My Kidney Wants to Kill Me - Help Me Evict It

Hey friends and kind strangers…
So… turns out my kidney has decided to go rogue. Rude of it to betray me like this after all we’ve been through (hydration, tequila shots, that time I gave up IPAs for a week). My name is Lucrezia Lucchi, I’ve been diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (aka kidney cancer), and now we’re breaking up. Permanently. I’ll be having a radical nephrectomy, which is a fancy way of saying, “We’re taking the whole thing out.” One kidney gone, but thankfully I’ve got a spare.
The good news? I have insurance that is helping with the major medical costs. The less good news? Life doesn’t exactly press pause when you’re recovering from organ theft (medical, but still).
Here’s why I could really use your help:
- I’ll be out of work for a bit while I recover (and, let’s be real, binge-watch terrible TV in a morphine haze).
- Gas and travel to appointments add up quick.
- Groceries, rent, and adulting don’t go on hiatus just because I’m missing an internal organ.
