The following is an excerpt of something the daughter of the Croarkin's wrote to support this gofundme;
My Brother
Hey, I’m Kelly Croarkin.
I’m 14 years old and I live with my family which consists of my dad, my mom, and my two brothers, Colin and Stevie. While our family might sound pretty normal, it isn’t.
You see, Stevie can’t speak. He can’t walk. He can’t take care of himself. Stevie has cerebral palsy.
We’ve all tried our best to pitch in and help, but we are reaching a point where the helpers need help.
We need a new vehicle because our car is now way too small to fit Stevie’s wheelchair.
As he gets older, his wheelchair gets bigger, and that means we struggle to pack up both Stevie and his chair into the car. He has regular doctor visits and often is sick, so we could use the support.
And really, it’s not only about medical visits. It’s not about all the times my mom hurt her back carrying Stevie, and it’s not only about how my brother and I aren’t able to join extra-curricular activities because of our lack of transportation, and it’s not about all the long hours my father works to keep our family stable and afloat.
To us, it’s about family. We have had transportation problems on and off for a long time, but if we could get a larger and more reliable vehicle, we would be able to do more as a family. We could visit our grandma and feel free to enjoy life without the looming possibility of what could go wrong or what cannot be done. Lately, a lot of our days are filled with what can’t be done and what isn’t possible, rather than what could be done and what is possible.
So I’m hoping we can discover what is possible here. Not only would your help get us closer to feeling normal, but getting a larger, more reliable vehicle would help change all our lives for the better.
