My animal sanctuary volunteering trip to Bali!

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Maddie and I’m raising funds to help me take part in a volunteering trip in Indonesia.
I am currently a year thirteen (upper sixth) student studying for my A-levels in Biology, Geography and Art. In the future I hope to study either "Biology" or "Conservation Biology and Ecology" at university.

As some of you may know, In July I am participating in a wildlife volunteer project in Bali with a company called Plan My Gap Year.

Most people in my life are aware of my adoration of nature and the environment. My strive to protect these things is what has driven me to volunteer abroad.
During volunteering I will participate in activities such as caring for and feeding animals, maintenance of the sanctuary, beach cleans and mangrove conservation for three to five hours a day, Monday to Friday.
Many of the animals in the sanctuary are rescued, a large number of which were victims of poachers, trafficking, markets and domestication. Therefore, volunteering in this project will help me fight the animal trade which is a very prevalent issue in Indonesia. The goal of the sanctuary is to release animals back into the wild if they are capable of surviving alone. However, this is often not possible due to their unfortunate backgrounds, therefore, the sanctuary acts as a transition for the animals until they find a long term home such as a specialised sanctuary for that species.

Plan My Gap Year (PMGY) is an organisation who run volunteering schemes across the globe. I will spend two weeks completing the PMGY volunteering course followed by a few extra days to explore Bali. PMGY provides volunteers with accommodation with other participants in the programme, an orientation of the location (Tabanan), three meals a day and 24 hour emergency support. I will need cover the cost of flights, the programme fee, travel insurance, vaccines, a visa, weekend activities and other admin. My initial goal of £1000 will help cover the cost of my flight. Any donations big or small are greatly appreciated and will help me make a difference to ecosystems and animals in Bali!
