DIFFICULT NEWS!
Last Friday I had a meeting to discuss a 5yr lease & plans for a magical improved CFBB. Instead I received information indicating the lease for CFBB may not be renewed. Monday it was confirmed, by the Landlord, that CFBBs lease would not be renewed, in fact we would be evicted on 15 Oct (in 5 business days). When I bought CFBB from the previous owners, the transfer of lease was interrupted by an outstanding issue they had with the landlord (a $10,000 bill I believe). So we put an agreement in place, I transfer rent to them, they transfer rent to the landlord. Their bond ($18,000) was apparently put up by their business partner at the time. All went well. For the past 2 years, every Thursday, I have paid the rent and paid all outgoings on time. On Monday the landlord confirmed that for the past 2 months, rent has not been paid by the previous owners. I have given proof to the landlord of my weekly rental payments. He recognises my payments, but will not renew lease with CFBB. He is beyond angry. All negotiating & reasoning for the opportunity to remain at our premise has failed due to lack of rental payments. We are searching for new premises to home our beloved CFBB. Obviously that is not going to be a quick thing. We will deliver CrossFit in the great outdoors until we find a solution with a roof. Beaches, parks, ovals, secret locations are the order of the day for the immediate future. Head Coach Nick Inglis will be coordinating locations & training.
CFBB is a passionate, strong community of creative & determined humans, this situation affects the hearts, minds, bodies, livelihood & souls of many many people. Personally I am devastated. This gym is my promise, my passion, my future and my gift to all.
This Saturday 8am is our FINAL WOD EVER at our premises. BBQ, Kombucha, bonfire, laughs, tears and a monumental pack-up. Shipping containers will be dropped here Friday. Come & join us, help us grieve, celebrate, strip the box bare & overcome. Please.
