August 2, 2021 I received a phone call that my 14-year-old son was stabbed multiple times.

For being black and gay.

An argument started over racial and homophobic slurs, and while there was no physical altercation between the two, my son was attacked as he stood up for himself.

The child who did this still walks free. Posting on social media bragging about the incident. Still messaging my son, his brothers, and those closest to my son.

I STILL haven’t processed my own sons bloody footprints or blood in the grass. That’s MY sons blood. I’ve gone through the BIOHAZARD bag of bloody clothing, still, after 3 days, soaking wet with his blood. Flesh still in the slits where he was stabbed. My heart is STILL broken.

My son now has a drain in his arm with a wound they were unable to close due to three arteries being severed and ultimately being cauterized in surgery. The surgeon informed me had the stab wounds been even millimeters in any other direction we would have been having a completely different conversation.

My son is the wittiest, most fun person I have the pleasure of loving. I love him gay. I love him black. To know how many people love my son makes my heart want to explode. He truly is a great human. To know him is to LOVE him.

With MUCH consideration, we have decided We need help from our community.

I haven’t worked since this happened, and I don’t have plans of returning this week. We will see what happens at my sons follow up appointment with the trauma center.

Perhaps we will all be able to sleep better at night when the person who did this is held accountable.

We need a lawyer. A GOOD lawyer. Perhaps one from out of town with no ties to this area.

I just started work as a Nurse and I am unsure if the medical bills or anything will be covered at all.

I am not one for a hand out, my family just needs any help we can get. The amount of love we have received is indescribable. The only way I can describe it is I am PROUD of complete strangers.

Thank you all for your prayers, vibes, shares, everything.
