Mutual Aid Fund for MN Black Foster Youth
Donation protected
In anticipation for Foster Care Awareness month Documenting MN is raising funds to redistribute to Black youth within the extended foster care system. These are youth between the ages of 18-21 who have decided to remain within the foster care system past their 18th birthday. Currently in Hennepin County there are 130 youth within the Extended Foster Care system.
All money raised will be given directly to Black youth in the form they request (cash, visa gift card, Venmo, Cash App etc). We are dedicated to accountability throughout this process, and will provide updates with receipts as we accept and redistribute these donations.
Why Mutual Aid? Mutual Aid is centered around the idea that people are the experts of their own lives and that recipients of material support are best able to determine how, when and in what form that support should be distributed. Through adapting a mutual aid model we’re ensuring that the youth we’re serving can access exactly what they need.
Any remaining funds leftover after the youth in Hennepin County receive their funds will be extended to Black foster youth in Ramsey County.
Thank you for your support.
