MUSC of NSW and MCFC Sydney Fans for Foodbanks

The Manchester United Supporters Club of NSW Australia (MUSC of NSW) and Manchester City Sydney Supporters Club (MCFC Sydney) will be holding a supporters club football match on Saturday 28 November 2020 to raise money for the joint MUFC Fans' Foodbank & MCFC Fans Foodbank Support appeal. While we are working together to raise funds to support the most vulnerable people in Manchester we expect it to be a hotly contested battle on the pitch! Our last fundraising match in January 2019 resulted in a red card for each side and a 4-2 win for MUSC of NSW. Who will come out on top this time?
The MUFC Fans' Foodbank & MCFC Fans Foodbank Support are two groups who are part of the wider Fans Supporting Foodbanks network and collect food on matchdays for their local Manchester foodbanks administered by the Trussell Trust. However, with no fans at football matches, there is suddenly a big hole in foodbank donations – what’s more, they feel it is no longer enough to only cover the two foodbanks they were supporting on matchdays. With that in mind, they are calling on all supporters of City and United to get together and help out all of the foodbanks in the Greater Manchester area.
The MCFC Sydney and MUSC of NSW have decided that whether we are Red or Blue, we want to do what we can to help the Manchester community in these challenging times. We would usually collect donations from spectators on match day but, despite Australia being in a better position with COVID-19 than the UK, we expect some club members and supporters would rather keep their distance so we are giving the option to show your support by donating online.

MCFC Fans Foodbank Support & MUFC Fans' Foodbank support the 19 Trussell Trust foodbanks in Greater Manchester, and between them, they handed out more than 110,000 food parcels in the first half of this financial year. As the COVID-19 pandemic worsens in the UK, the foodbanks in Manchester are already having to make what they have go further than ever. As people lose their livelihoods and schools begin to close, more and more people will turn to foodbanks.
