Mum's volunteering in the Solomons
Donation protected
Hi everyone, as I'm sure you probably know, our family has a strong connection with the Solomon Islands that spans 40 years and as mum moves into her retiring years, she has decided to give up the comforts of her home (like phone lines and electricity!) and live and volunteer in the Islands for the next 5-6 months. She will be living and working in a Rural Training Centre (RTC), providing teaching support, running classes and sharing her invaluable knowledge with the very grateful staff and students there. An RTC is a much needed 2 year program that teaches life and pratical working skills to adult students who have for various reasons not been able to finish their high school certificate. These programs change lives and I'm so proud of my mum for volunteering her time to this cause. In an effort to keep the costs as low as possible for mum, we have decided to run this campaign in the hope that we can raise enough money for her flights, visa, travel insurance and possibly even sending over school supplies, books and teaching materials via freight. Every little bit counts and we promise it's going to such a good cause. Sending you all love and light xo
