Steel Pan Trust is a charity that organises a range of steelpan events and activities. It was born out of Steel Pan Agency (www.steelpanagency.com) a business that predominantly delivers steelpan workshops at schools (over 300 schools in the UK so far) as well as performances for private and corporate functions.
We are seeking funding for all our projects but most specifically ‘STEELPAN’ our Theatre Production. Rehearsals began in 2014 and we have showcased 3 scenes at our event Pan Clash (a Soloist Competition). It is very musical, expressive and has lots of humour. The reaction from our audience was so much more than we could ever have expected and since last year we have many people requesting to see the full production.
Here lies our funding issue, as we need rehearsal space, uniforms and props to complete the remaining scenes. Please support us to raise these funds so that we can bring this production to you our audience to enjoy and to educate people about the history and art of steelpan music.
‘STEELPAN’ is a 90-minute theatre production about the origins of steelpan and the average steelpan musicians lifestyle in the UK. It has a cast of 8-9 people and shows the dynamics of the steelpans origin from Trinidad and Tobago during World War II and the transformation and progression in the UK where many Pannist are now Tutors and committed Performers for their community.
