Please Help Ms. Denisha Find a New Space to Teach

Donation protected
Hi my name is Nicole and I am fundraising for my son’s sewing teacher, Ms. Denisha who owns and runs SewFunJax. She has dedicated her life to teaching kids and adults how to sew and create. She is kind and generous and several days a week she donates her time to teaching at risk youth how to sew and create for free. She provides a safe, loving space for kids to express themselves, where they can learn and believe in themselves. She is an amazing teacher and human who gives her whole heart. Please help us give back to a person who gives so much to so many in need.

On 4/24/23 a speeding car crashed through her sewing and teaching studio. The building sustained substantial damage and she will have to pause teaching her classes so that she can pack her business up and try to find a new safe space to teach and create. She will incur costs that include not being able to work while she moves spaces, replacing items that were damaged in the crash, and the upfront costs of putting down a deposit and renting a new space in the current rental market where space comes at a premium price. Rental prices have become almost unaffordable and small businesses are especially affected. Ms. D has put everything she has into her small business and was not expecting to have to move so suddenly.

Since October she has been caring for her sick mother, who has blood cancer, taking her to chemotherapy, etc. Her mother is slowly getting back on her feet and Ms. D has finally been able to get back to teaching full time. This is the last thing that she expected to happen. She is grateful that none of her students were hurt and she trusts that God will provide guidance during this difficult time.

Please help her buffer the exorbitant costs that will be associated with getting her business back up and running so that she can continue teaching and providing joy to so many. Thank you for anything that you are able to donate.

Excerpt from Ms. Denishas SewFunJax Instagram page:

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think this
would ever happen a guy decided that he was
going to speed race down our street and ended
up driving directly through our sewing studio
yesterday I thank God that I was not doing a
class. This could have turned out so differently.
Someone could have lost their life or been
seriously injured. I spend my days caring for
others and it's so sad that people continue to
make these types of choices without any
regard for their life or the people around them.
We are a small business, blood sweat and tears
have been put in these walls. I love what I do
teaching others to believe in themselves and to
create. Please pray for us as we begin to
rebuild this is our safe space. Our creative
space now has been torn to shreds.”
