Moving Dakota

I am raising money to help move my single mom and her grandson, Dakota, closer to Milwaukee where they can both get the right support and help they need. Dakota, who is twelve years old, has cerebral palsy. My mom has had full custody of him since he was one. He is confined to his wheelchair most of the time, and he needs quite a lot of medical attention. Although he has had more to deal with than anyone should, his smile brightens up any room, and when he starts laughing, believe me, it is beyond contagious.

My mom takes care of Dakota full-time. Because of this, it is hard for her to find a job that understands why she might have to leave to pick him up from school, take him to one of his many doctor's appointments, or stay with him when he is hospitalized. Dakota's most recent hospital stay took seven days until he was well enough to come back home. Through all of this, my mom has never once questioned devoting her life to her grandson. I stand amazed at her selflessness.

The money raised here will go towards moving expenses and a place to live that is wheelchair accessible and anything extra will go towards a van. Since the van that my mom uses to transport him is getting old and is having more issues each day. It has ceased to be a reliable vehicle long ago. You can imagine how difficult it would be for my mom if the car breaks down when she has Dakota with her.

We are hoping and praying that we can get enough support, so they can move to Milwaukee this fall. This move will help Dakota as he will be close to the medical attention he needs. My mom is the most amazing woman I know, and I hope that this Go Fund me account will her. I thank you for any help you are able to give her and Dakota.
