Mother + autistic child at-risk of homelessness

Donation protected
Lately we hear about the impact of various Conservative governments' funding cuts have on young children. While we sympathize, it’s still something abstract to everyone not in that situation. It’s different when we can put a human face what happens when special-needs funding doesn’t match the costs of raising a special needs child, especially on a low-income job. Or in this case, suddenly no job.

Many of us have experienced financial stresses & hardship. Hopefully, we had family and friends to help us get through them. That isn’t the case for this recently suddenly unemployed young woman and her severely autistic daughter. The job she had didn’t allow for more than scraping by. Now even that isn’t possible. Her savings, such as they were, were wiped out by an automatic deduction of her student loan.

Do to a recent cascade effect of illness, sudden unemployment and other personal matters, this young Mother with a 5 year-old autistic daughter in a small town is on the verge of homelessness. She wants to remain nameless to the public because of the very real danger that if her name is revealed, her circumstances may lead to her daughter being taken from her.

If you have an autistic child, or know one, you know that sudden change is exceptionally traumatic, especially when wrested from the one person who gives the child the only sense of safety in a world that she doesn’t understand & doesn’t understand her. It’s a nightmare scenario.

She doesn’t have family support. Her father is on disability, her friends also in economic situations that keep them barely scraping by. Engaging social services will get her daughter taken away.

This woman and her father have always fought for the rights of others who are less fortunate. Now they need that help themselves.

She & her daughter don’t have money for food, shelter or any of the basics most of us, even when we’ve experienced financial crunches, have never had to do without.

I assure you that this isn’t one of the myriad scams you find on social media. Media personality Ed the Sock was suspicious & checked us out and then, satisfied this is a real human emergency, donated to the cause.

The amount being asked for covers this month and last month’s rent, both very overdue and some small cushion for food & essentials until the mother can find new employment.

It takes GoFundMe 3-5 business days to release donations so WE HAVE TO ACT FAST if we're going to prevent this family from becoming homeless and this special-needs child sucked into a system that neither knows her or provides her with the emotional comfort her mother does. She desperately needed this money 17 days ago. Time is ticking by and she's getting more desperate by the second.

For that reason, if you are comfortable sending money to her Dad so she can instantly buy food & necessities, that e-transfer option is available at poppsikkel at hotmail dot com (but in the standard email format - GoFundMe may prevent listing email addresses). This address also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and satisfy yourself that this isn’t a scam, it’s a real human emergency that you may be in the position to help.

Donor information will be kept confidential unless the donor chooses to publicize their name/details.

If you want to help but can't afford to donate, please post this campaign on FaceBook, Twitter, or other social media platforms so we can reach as wide an audience as possible. Help reach out to others who are in a position to help.

If you’re (legitimately) wondering why my name is on this campaign and not her father’s - he doesn’t have a driver’s license or the ID necessary to register a campaign nor access to reliable internet service.

Thank you for your time and consideration and I hope you never have to experience what this young woman and her daughter are going through. Best wishes to all of you for the benefits of health, security and prosperity.
