Lots of fun for tennis players and their families!

Lori recently asked me, "What is the one word that you would use to describe the upcoming 2018 year?" She was reading some quotes from Facebook and was surprised to see some of the responses. Much of the time the respondents had a bleak outlook on 2018, but my reply was, "Hopeful".

Lori and I are generally very private people and try not to burden our problems on other people, and consequently, there are only a few who know of our struggles with having children.  We have wanted to have children for many years but were unable to have any.  The last time we tried it almost cost Lori her life.  I know many of you have experienced and can relate to the heartache we have endured.  Every Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday and anniversary, though a time of joy, was a time of remembrance of our losses.

After much prayer, tears and talking, we truly believe God does want us to have children, and the way He wants us to move forward is through adoption.  We decided to adopt through a great organization, Edna Gladney.  Edna Gladney is a Christian based organization that not only thinks of the child and the adoptive parents but also of the birth mom and her needs.  They go out of their way to counsel the birth mom and make sure she is making the best decision for the baby and herself.  They have training for the adoptive parents on the different stages of the adoption process.  They are there for the child should they need anything throughout their entire adulthood.  They even take care of any and all legal issues that come from the adoption process.  Unfortunately, these necessary services do cost money in the form of fees.  The adoption process for Lori and I comes out to little more than $41,000.

Upon hearing this amount, several special people asked how they could help with the expense.   Being the private people we are, Lori and I at first rejected the kind offer.  We just don't know how to accept help or even how to ask for it.  Luckily, Kim Bailey came to me and told me to, "Shut Up! We are going to help you.  You need the help."  Kim is right; we could use the help.  I have no idea what the cost of raising a child will be, and I am sure not being buried up to our eyeballs in debt will help immensely.  Lori and I would like to thank you so much for coming and supporting us and our upcoming child.

After enduring our setbacks we now truly understand what a gift children are, and we look forward to when our precious gift is in our arms.  We have no idea when our child will finally be with us, but we do know that God has a plan and will present us with who He wants us to raise.  This year is a new beginning in our lives and we are definitely hopeful.
