Hello,
I'm De'Vante Montgomery, rising sophomore at Miami University, and I'm here to recruit you! Four years ago I had the fantastic opportunity to have traveled to the 2012 Democratic National Convention as a junior delegate with the Junior Statesmen Foundation. Witnessing the amazing candidacy of President Obama and attending the 2012 DNC was a life changing opportunity! I remember sitting in the arena listening to the first African-American president proclaim his victories in his first term and where he wanted our nation to be during his secound. I remember telling myself, "the next time I go to the convetion, I would come back as a delegate!"
Four years later on January 4th, 2016, I did just that! I was elected a district-level-delegate for Hillary Clinton to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Unfortunately, proportional rules have prevented me from securing my position as a district-level-delegate. But for me it wasn't over yet! On May 14th, 2016, I was appointed to be 1 of 18 at-large-delegates to represent Hillary Clinton and Ohio to the DNC! As well as one of the youngest.
I need your help! I'd like to raise a total of $3,000 for my trip to the convention. This would cover travel, hotel costs, and other expenses. Any and all donations will be highly appreciated! As a LGBT person of color who wishes to run for public office, attending this convention would be one of the pivots to push me further to reach my goals and inspire others.
