MONASTIC DWELLING IN. SRI LANKA

Hi for those of you that know me this new look may well come as a surprise. At this present moment I am temporarily ordained at Rideekanda forest monastery in the central. highlands of Sri Lanka. I've been here for a few months now. My stay here was preceded by rather too wild a time in Europe leading to an ultimatum and thereafter an intervention . Luckily I was allowed to choose my place of confinement and I opted for this monastic style of accommodation. I chose this place almost on a whim , really I just had a feeling for it and curiously fought for the choice it was a very healthy intuition .

Rideekanda is remote, during the rains (quite a lot of the year) we are only accessible by four wheel drive (of which there are very few) yet people flock from all over the island drawn here by the honesty and integrity of the teachings I arrived here half mad and broke and was welcomed with grace and enthusiasm. The teachings have been both clear and sedate, not rushed or overwhelming. Slowly I am finding my way , finding a point to life and slowly beginning to develop a taste for it again .

They need some extra funding here andI feel it is haven worthy of our support. The linage of monks teaching here all have qualifications in western psychology as well as Buddhist When one needs some support or just a break from the grind it is often tricky to know where to turn Places like this are clearly necessary and should be treasured as a resource for one and all.

At the moment , watching war and conflict erupt across the globe, it is perhaps these projects that need our attention, projects whose reason to exist is the promotion of peace and non violence.

So if we can raise some money for a dwelling here that would be great start. It will be of the ready made pre fab type as we are up on a mountain and access is tough. The cost for the building would be 5 to 7k and i need a little funding to be available for the build ( visa, flights medical insurance: etc but that will be no more than 2k). All funds will be managed by a third party and the project viewable on the Rideekanda website
