We've decided to create this page to help our dear friends Amaya and Carlos Molinas, who among a thousand others in Houston, lost their house and all their belongings to Hurricane Harvey.
We've known them since we moved to Houston 16 years ago and have always been like family to us. They have two daughters, Juliana and Lucia, who were happy to start their 3rd and kindergarten school year (in the same school for the first time) the week before the hurricane hit us.
As they continue to live in our home, we see them trying to recover their life and figure out the next steps to start over.
Their home ended up completely under water, and they only had time to get out with 5-6 plastic bags with their most important belongings. But as we talk through it all, they have not only lost their furniture and clothes but all of their memories, pictures, Juliana's and Lucia's drawings, toys, school memories, family jewelry, and so much more.
That's why we decided to come together to try to make their journey a bit easier. We won't be able to give them back the sentimental losses but we can all help them making the material portion of their loss come back together.
This is the first time we've all experienced a natural disaster of this magnitude and we just hope that you can contribute with whatever amount possible to help our friends. We are overwhelmed by the support already received within our community, and now we hope to reach out outside our inner circle and help the Molinas family.
Any help is appreciated. We will forever be thankful and will share with all of you the progress as their home comes back together.
