Short Summary

Cherry is a young musician, desperate to break into the music scene while remaining loyal to her desire to be an independent artist. But when Lucky, a powerful record exec, offers her a deal that’s too good to be true, they sign a contract without reading the fine print. As Lucky pushes Cherry further and further from their beliefs and morals, her relationship with their partner, Joey, is tested as Cherry’s popularity grows. Things reach the breaking point when Cherry learns Lucky's dark secret- a secret that puts her and those she loves in danger.

Think the Green Room meets The Lost Boys meets Wayne's World. This 15-minute short film delves into the dark truths of the music industry and the predatory nature of major record labels.

Inspired by our love of live music, urban fantasy/horror, and the independent world of underground artists and creatives, this film is a love letter to all of them. If you're a fan of any of these things, or if you just want to support a student film, consider donating to make this film a reality.

Who We Are

Sara Eyre (They/She) - Writer and Director

Sara is a lover of all things punk, emo, or alternative. An avid concert goer, she wrote this film to explore how the music industry has changed, and the way minority artists are treated within the space. With 8 years of experience working on sets and in the industry, she’s ready to take the helm as writer and director to bring her vision to life.

Emen Trussart (She/Her) - Assistant Director and Story Editor

Emen is a passionate creative fascinated with all things horror and supernatural, with a penchant towards the emo and alternative scene. She has been working hard on bringing this story to light by utilizing her 6+ years of experience in the industry. From screenwriting to on-set experience, she embarks on this journey ready to conquer.

What if we don’t hit our goal? As University students living in Toronto, we’re no strangers to making a dollar stretch. We will be prioritizing the essentials, and are prepared to scale back if needed.

The Impact

This film is the culmination of years of work. This is our opportunity to use what we’ve learned and the skills we’ve honed over our time at TMU to create something we are genuinely proud of. This is the start of our careers, and the way to get a foot in the door of the film industry.
