We have been married for almost 14 years, and we have always desired to have a family! After some years into our marriage we realized that having a family naturally was not going to come easy for us. We did some basic testing in regards to our physical ability to have children. After having done some basic tests and still not being able to conceive, we started looking into further testing and procedure options. However, we felt more at peace that God was leading us in the direction of pursuing adoption to begin building our family, rather than going through extensive testing and procedures to conceive a baby.
So, we began researching adoption options, and while researching, we were blessed with our first conception! However, we lost our baby to a miscarriage at 9 weeks. This experience took us on a emotional roller coaster, from feeling great excitement and renewed hope of conception, to feeling a very deep loss!! This emotional experience detoured our adoption pursuit for some time. Unfortunately, not having been blessed with another conception since our miscarriage, we have got back on our adoption pursuit.
We have chosen to pursue domestic open adoption with Christian Adoption Services of Alberta. This means that we will be adopting a baby from within Alberta, and the birth mother/parents will have certain rights to stay in contact with the child. The extent of the contact will be agreed upon with the birth mother/parents before the adoption is finalized. It is our desire to adopt a child from newborn to 18 months. Our initial application has been approved, and we are now moving forward to the home study portion in the process.
There have been people who have expressed a desire to help us financially with the process of our adoption. Therefore, we have decided to open an account on this site, for those who would like to support us financially. As this site is designed to be used as a financial tool, we have specifically focused on financial support in this announcement. However, we do greatly appreciate your prayer support as well!
One verse that has inspired us is...Romans 8:15 (NASB), "For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!". It is our desire to receive a child into our home, and accept him/her as our very own, in the way that our heavenly Father has adopted us as His very own!
Although our journey has not been an easy journey, we are quite excited as to how God has orchestrated our journey to pursue the beautiful option of adoption to start building our family! “‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” - Jeremiah 29:11.
