New Beginnings

My name is Lindsay. I have been a stay at home mother of two beautiful little boys, ages 4 and 2. I am fundraising to relocate us out of state to start a better life; closer to our family. I do not have family in Oklahoma. The majority of my family lives in the Northeast. I have never easily asked for help. When things get bad I usually find a way to rise up. I try to take the negative and turn it into something positive or find a way to grow from it. Unfortunately, I have been unable to do that this time. As many of you have seen, I have gone quiet and shut down. Due to these extenuating circumstances, I am asking for your help. I am willing to move us with very little but I worry that this drastic change - although for the best interests of my children and myself long term - will negatively impact them with leaving so many possessions behind and the financial cost to replace not only their toys but our beds, furniture, kitchen items, appliances etc will become just another stress as we get our feet on the ground.

 

After years of living in the situation we have, I have found the strength to make this change and discuss what has happened. It has taken a great deal of courage to do this and swallowing my pride to ask for this assistance but I am desperate. I want more than anything in this world to give my children a safe loving environment that allows healing, proper direction, and the ability to thrive in life. In order for me to provide that, I need come out of hiding and lessen the shame we have felt. I need to get us to a place where we have support from loved ones and a sense of normality… not the normal we have come to know.

 

With your help, the traumatic events that unfold would stop. I can remove us far from the situation and bring us into a loving support system. Your donation would be life altering for us in a way that I’ll never be able to describe accurately. It would give me the ability to move our items from Oklahoma to Connecticut, pay for gas and travel expenses, create a new home for us, establish a job to provide for our needs, and get the children settled into their new environment.

I realize the fundraising goal amount seems high. I believe $2,500 will get us to our destination with our most needed possessions and cover travel expenses if we do the move by ourselves. 

I have obtained a number of quotes for our moving options. The cheapest seems to be having a tow bar added to my vehicle and renting a trailer for the move. The bar, installation and trailer rental for 6 days is just under $800. This will be a tight timeline and  we will need to replace a lot of items as we get on our feet. If we use a moving company to move all of our possessions, the cheapest quote I received was $1,999. They would disassemble anything needed, load all items/boxes into the truck, unload and reassemble at our destination. 

Once we arrive to Connecticut, my brother and two cousins  have offered to let my little family stay with them temporarily while I establish residency and look for work. The remaining amount of the goal would help us  with our beginning/monthly expenses, get into a rental, starting utilities, and replacement of household items we couldn’t fit into the trailer.

In an effort to add my own funds and lighten our load; I have started sorting, selling and donating everything I feel we can part with.
