Miss Amber's DayCare Recovery

Donation protected
My aunt has been the rock of my family for years, she’s supported everyone in times of need and stepped into an integral role of raising my brother. She achieved her goal of opening a home daycare over a decade ago, and has been opening her home to care for children from in and around Chula Vista, California. Her heart held so much love for the daycare kids and their families, and we consider many of them to be family of our own. She’s always put the needs of others ahead of her own and been one of the most contagiously happy people a person could meet!

On Monday, October 3rd, my aunt and her best friend/coworker laid their lives on the line to protect 7 of the daycare kids aged 1 to 8 years old. When an ex-boyfriend attempted to forcefully enter the house in a violent, irrational state and was turned away by my aunt, things took a dangerous turn. He tried to set fire to the house as most of the children slept, and as smoke gathered in the house my aunt and her coworker gathered the children and locked them into the bathroom, and shoved a towel into the threshold. My aunt called the police as she heard him shattering sliding glass doors in the back room. He fired a shot at her, and she armed herself and fired back in self defense before running out of the house in an attempt to draw him outside and away from the bathroom where the children hid.

Police arrived and he was arrested, but the story posted below could have looked much more tragic if not for the tremendous courage and quick action of my aunt and Andrea. In the wake of the trauma, she is trying to make repairs to the home and replace items for the daycare that were damaged by the flames so that she can get her life and her livelihood up and running again. She is not one to ask for help but with all that’s going on, there’s no way she can handle it all alone. Any help that you can give will be greatly appreciated and used to cover costs incurred by this unimaginable day. We hope to present any donations given to her to show the support of those who love her just as much as the loves the children she cares for! Thank you very much for your support during this trying time, we appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts!

The story has gained nationwide media attention in efforts to prevent acts of domestic violence from causing anyone else the pain my aunt has felt as a result of these completely unforeseen circumstances. A link to one story is posted below.
