Shali's Summer Mission

I am eager for the summer, for I believe God is calling me to work in the Dominican Republic. He has opened doors for me and a friend, Jessica Wade, to work together alongside American Missionary Mercy DeRuiter. Mercy and her husband live in the Dominican where they teach languages to both nationals and missionaries. Our work will center around building relationships with Hairians who migrated to the DR to work in the sugar plantations. There are two breakfast programs in the villages in which we will assist. Our aim is to learn to beat serve the needs of the children in these villages. We will help create a girls' club ministry in these villages where we want to teach and inspire the young girls to be women of God. We will work with orphans at Casa de Luz, a special needs orphanage on the outskirts of Santo Domingo. There we can teach children Bible stories and other life skills. In addition, Mercy hosts large groups for 10 day mission trips during the summer. Jessica and I will serve these groups and lead them in their mission experiences in the Dominican Republic. That is quite the schedule this summer with plenty of tasks, but with God's help we will be able to see great things happen with the people. We need your partnership so that we may go this summer.
