Mind Over Mountain - For George Davies

Donation protected
We are a group of ten taking on the UK Three Peaks on Saturday 26th September. We are commemorating a year since our friend George Davies tragically passed away with our ‘Mind Over Mountain’ challenge.

As a group of George’s friends and family, we have chosen to do this to raise awareness for mental health, particularly in men, and support the work of some incredible charities.

George was a truly amazing person, he had a natural charm about him and carried that cheeky grin no matter what life threw at him. He wore his heart on his sleeve and was nothing but a loyal friend to everyone who knew him.

He was as caring as he was generous, he’d be the first to buy you a pint if you didn’t have one in front of you and make anybody and everybody feel welcome. He was the life and soul of every gathering; if he wasn’t making you cry with laughter, he’d be up to something mischievous.

George’s life was cut tragically short on 26th September 2019 and we miss him dearly. He has left behind many friends and a loving family, including his niece and nephew who adored him.

We have chosen to raise money for two amazing causes. The first is the charity Cruse Bereavement Care, who have been a fabulous support to George’s sister over the past year. As George and his family are prominent members of the farming community, we think it is fitting that the second charity will be the DPJ Foundation. They work specifically within the agricultural community to aid anyone who feels they’ll benefit from mental health support.

We hope to raise £5,000 by climbing the three highest peaks in the UK: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, all in less than 24 hours. With a total walking distance of 23 miles and ascent of 3,064 feet, this is no easy challenge but we are ready to embrace it in memory of George.

We miss our mate dearly, and this walk is trying to embody everything we loved about him.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our fundraiser in memory of George. If you aren’t able to donate, acknowledging why we are doing this will also be a huge help. Mental health is something that affects everyone, spreading awareness is a great way to help anyone who feels they could benefit from the support of others.
