MIKA's 40th Birthday Present

If you've found your way here to this page, you probably already know that singer/songwriter MIKA turns 40! on 18th August 2023.

Mika Fan Club thought long and hard about an appropriate way to mark this significant milestone, and finally decided on the sponsorship of a site in Lebanon that will be maintained by the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative.

For the amount of $2500, the LRI will implement reforestation activities in a particular area in Lebanon, planting seedlings and overseeing their growth and development by maintaining and protecting the planted areas. In addition, the project aims at developing a comprehensive land-use plan through a community-based approach including key local stakeholders.

The LRI will place commemorative markers on several of the trees at an additional cost ($10/tree) at our request, and will send an e-certificate to document the gift.

Most Mika fans know of Mika's pride in his Lebanese heritage and his strong ties to Lebanon. He has spoken often of growing up in a household filled with the sounds and aromas of the country, thanks to his Lebanese mother.

For the past several years, the international fan community of Mika Fan Club has generously supported various charities in honor of Mika's birthday, but we hope that this particular cause will be especially close to Mika's heart.

His song "Celebrate" notes: "I want to come home... where the trees I planted grow..."

We hope that by sponsoring the literal planting of trees in his beloved Lebanon, we can help to leave a lasting legacy there on his behalf.

You can wish Mika a Happy 40th Birthday and show your support for this effort by making a contribution toward the cost of the LRI project sponsorship through this Mika Fan Club GoFundMe page.

You can donate in any amount, in any currency. A small transaction fee will be deducted by GoFundMe from your contribution.

Once sufficient funds ($2500) are collected, MFC's Administrator, Deb Koma, will place the order for the LRI site.

This fundraising effort will run from July 15 to August 31, 2023.

Any additional funds collected over the required $2500 will go toward purchase of 10 tree markers, with the remainder then donated to a charity (yet to be determined) in Mika's honor.
