Midwives for Haiti-Tiffany Johnson

Dear friends and family,
 I am raising money to go to Haiti on my first mission trip!  Haiti is one of the most dangerous places in the western hemisphere to give birth.  The maternal death rate in Haiti is 350/100,000 women compared to 12.5/100,000 in the US.  Most deaths are caused by eclampsia, sepsis, and postpartum bleeding, all of which are preventable.   Haiti also has the highest rate for infant and under-five mortality in the western hemisphere.  Midwives for Haiti is a caritable organization that trains skilled birth assistance to help reduce mortality rates for moms and babies.  I will be traveling to Haiti to volunteer with MFH in November 2016 for 2 weeks.  I will be working in one of the local hospitals, providing direct patient care.  The money I raise will help pay for my volunteer fees and travel to Haiti.  Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and considering donating to this cause.
