Michael Goodreau's Road to Recovery

Donación protegida
Michael Goodreau is a hard working 35 year old family man, well thought of by his employer and loved by family and friends.

In early 2016 Michael developed breathing difficulties.  He was diagnosed with CTEPH-Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension.  At this time it is believed to have been caused by a rare genetic blood disorder which causes the blood to produce too much protein which results in blood clotting.  The clots have gone to his lungs, clogging them so blood can't flow into them to bring oxygen to them.  The blood thinners he was on dissolved the larger clots but did not dissolve the ones in his pulmonary arteries in his lungs.

In November, 2016 Michael was forced to take a leave of absence from his job when his Doctor put him on supplemental oxygen 24/7.

Michael is now scheduled to have surgery to remove the clots from his pulmonary veins in his lungs. Since this disease is extremely rare, there are only 5 Hospitals across the country with a specialized team who can perform the surgery that will cure Michael for life.

The surgery is scheduled for February 14, 2017 at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.  Michael will be able to return to work and a normal life after 8 to 10 weeks of rehab and recovery.  He will however be on blood thinning medication for the rest of his life.

Faced with deductibles and co-pays, Michael and his family will be dealing with  financial hardships for some years to come.  They are a family deserving of our compassion and our help.
