Hurricane Maria Relief

Donation protected
When Hurricane Maria swept across Puerto Rico                                                                                    with winds approaching 155 mph,                                                                                                           she left widespread destruction                                                                                                                      leaving almost the entire island without power and                                                                                                      many without running water or cell phone service.

We’ve all seen the news releases showing pictures of the devastation that Hurricane Maria has caused. Roads have been washed away, lives have been lost, and millions of people have been cut off from the rest of the world. Considered the worst storm in nearly a century, Maria is blamed for at least 16 dead in Puerto Rico and 49 across the Caribbean islands as of September 26. And the danger is not over. On the northwest part of the island thousands of residents are at risk of a potential dam collapse near the Guajataca River.

The Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration said 4,000 members of the US Army Reserves have been deployed to the island to help with the island’s recovery and more Federal help is on the way, but the need for assistance is so dire that it’s up to individuals like us to make sure that every man, woman and child receive support!

My name is Caroline Pena. I am a registered nurse living in (Aurora, CO). I have family in Puerto Rico, and the catastrophic impact on their well-being rocks my soul.

I am the oldest, one of six children daughter to Irma Rivera, sister to Meredith Ledezma, Step Daughter to Freddy Ledezma, Niece to Hilda Moreno and Radames Moreno, I currently have families that live in Moca, Cabo Rojo, Mayaguez, San Juan Puerto Rico and other areas of Puerto Rico that were affected by Hurricane Maria.

This funding campaign was started to assist with the effort to purchase food, fluids, clothing, and any other necessities.

I have launched this campaign to raise at least $1,000,000 to go directly to the individuals on the island that are lacking resources. There will be a great deal of rebuilding to be done because Puerto Rico’s infrastructure is shattered, but it will take time. Meanwhile families may be without basic necessities for months. When the funds for this campaign is withdrawn it will distributed for supplies and the necessities.

$1,000,000 is an ambitious goal – but I know that it’s possible. Instead of watching news clips and feeling powerless to help, this is our chance to act!

Time is of the essence! Please donate now! I will account for every dollar spent!! Not one penny will be wasted!

I wrestled with the decision of whether to go to Puerto Rico directly and offer my nursing skills (and may still do that), but I decided that it’s more important right now to help the victims with immediate aid so that they can begin to get their lives back on track.

$5, $10, $100, $1,000 – whatever you can give, please do so as soon as possible!

As I receive each donation, I will write a personal thank you note with an accounting of where your money is being spent – whether its food, medicine, clothing or other essential needs.

Please also forward this campaign to your friends, family members, and contacts on your social media account. The more people who know about my campaign, the more likely it will be that we will achieve the $1,000,000.

On behalf of the Puerto Rican families devastated by Hurricane Maria, I am deeply grateful for your generosity!

The donations made will be deposited into my personal account. I Caroline Pena will utilize the money to purchase supplies and pay shipping cost to ship to Irma Rivera my mother located in Moca, PR.
