Mexicali Migrant Healing Fund

Al Otro Lado  is supporting an essential partner in the reunification of families, Border Kindness,who has tirelessly advocated to ensure that migrant families and children are provided with holistic medical care at the Mexicali/Calexico Border Region. Border Kindness responds to the immediate needs of migrants and refugees to provide a holistic approach to migrant care which includes: water safety, food and nutritional care, emotional support needs, educational needs, and extensive medical care. 

On November 12, 2018, Border Kindness began to operate in Mexicali and has since provided refugees, migrants and the displaced with more than 20,000 personal care items, 23,000 pieces of clothing, 11,000 meals for families, 1,400 pairs of shoes and 1,000 toys and books for children. Migrant care means access to clean water, medical care, emotional care, and supporting families regain a sense of safety during arduous conditions.




Due to the Trump administrations', "Remain in Mexico" Policy, Border Kindness has experienced a critical rise in the number of families who are in need of  medical and nutritional care, and has provided migrants with rapid response holistic care, in unprecedented number.  As of today, Border Kindness is the only organization on the ground in the Mexicali/Calexico region that supports migrants with essential holistic medical, wellness, and nutritional care each and every day! 

Al Otro Lado's, Mexicali Migrant Healing Fund will uplift the work of our partner, Border Kindness to ensure that migrants and families receive dignified support as they seek asylum. Because everyone especially migrant families and children deserve comprehensive holistic care and healing!
