We are running the Dublin Half Marathon on 22nd September in memory of an amazing little boy, Henry, who showed such strength and determination during his time here
We'd like to do this to raise money to support two charities who are solely reliant on charity donations and use these funds to help make a difference to families. These specific charities http://www.heartchildren.ie/ and www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org made a huge difference in Henry's parents' lives.
The 22nd of September is a significant date within our group of friends, as its the day before the 1st year anniversary of this special baby, Henry, who unfortunately lost his fight in this world at just 5 days old. Henry developed Hypoplastic heart syndrome, which meant his heart was not developing correctly, causing great concern for his survival.
Despite all odds, Henry kept going and grew as strong as possible, things were looking good. Unfortunately it was all too much for little Henry and he had to give up his fight at 5 days old.
During the following few days and many months that have followed, two charities have helped Henry's family immensely. Heart Children Ireland & Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, were able to provide the emotional support and also capture some beautiful moments on film for them to cherish.
Heart Children Ireland is a support group for parents and families of children with a Congenital Heart Disorder. CHD is the most common of all birth defects affecting one in every one hundred children born at present. About half of all babies born with CHD will require heart operations. Heart Children Ireland is a completely voluntary group and receives no government funding. They depend on fundraising and donations from individuals and businesses.
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep was set up to introduce remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with a free gift of professional portraiture. Professional-level photographers volunteer their time to conduct an intimate portrait session, capturing the only moments parents spend with their babies. Parents are gifted with delicately retouched heirloom black and white portraits free of charge.
They depend on fundraising and donations from individuals and businesses to facilitate this.
Please support us in our pursuit to raise additional funds for these two worthy charities.
