Meori's Fight Against Brain Tumor at St Jude
Donation protected
Meori is an 8 year old boy from Israel who is loving, friendly, and full of adventure. This past spring, a rare, benign tumor was found in Meori's brain. He first began his medical treatment in Israel at the Dana Children Hospital at Ichilov Hospital, where most of the tumor was able to be removed through an extensive surgery through his nose.
For the second phase of treatment, Meori and his parents have temporarily left their jobs and traveled across the world to benefit from the medical professionals at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. The doctors at St. Jude are working to remove the remaining part of the tumor and prevent its regeneration, through a treatment called Proton Therapy.
Thank G-d, throughout the treatment Meori is continuing to be positive, giggly, and full of happiness. His treatments are progressing. However, given the situation, some financial concerns have come about. St. Jude is an incredible institution that covers all the medical costs but there are out of pocket expenses and loss of income while in Memphis. Therefore, we are asking for your help in contributing to this cause. By helping you are allowing Meori's parents to focus on their son's health without having financial worries while in Memphis and when they get home.
A little history on how I, Roy Graber, became involed and organized this fund raising campaing. My son-in-law Hudi Moskowitz was in the Israeli army as lone soilder from the United States. The Israeli army organizes host families for these soliders during their service. Merio's granparents were Hudi's "adpoted" son and to this day the whole family is extreamly close to Hudi, Sheera and their three kids. Once it was known that Meori needed treatment at St Jude in Memphis, the obvious connection was made since we live in Memphis TN. To reinerate, the funds will be used to offset expenses that St Jude does not cover and most importatnly loss of income for two months. Merio's parents both work and had to take time off to be with him in Memphis. The funds collect will be withdrawn into my personal account and then I will immediatly wire the avaiable funds to Chovav and Moriah into their Israeli account. Hopefully the intial transfer can be completed before Rosh Hashana. Additonal transfers will be made as funds are availble.
Please see the following post from Hudi on Facebook.
This is the Landau family. Their son Meori was diagnosed with a brain tumor and is currently finishing up a sequence of radiation treatment in Memphis’ St. Jude children's hospital. Meori’s grandparents were my adopted family while I was serving in the IDF and I still consider them my family after all these years. These are the type of people who don’t know how to ask for anything, except how they can help others. Just one example of many (sorry Chovav): https://www.timesofisrael.com/thinking-like-kidnappers-a-g…/.
Their generosity is really something to be experienced, as I had for many years while they treated me like one of their own. Now, these wonderful people had a financial setback while looking after their youngest son over the course of many months, and I was hoping that anyone who was looking for a place to donate before the high holidays would consider this. Those of you who know Chovav and Moriya (Meori’s parents) don’t need an explanation but maybe just a reminder of how much they impacted our lives. I could never repay even a fraction of what their family did for me at a very crucial time in my life. But still, a small gesture of thank you for people who would do anything for others.
If anyone has any questions or wants to get in touch please feel free to contact me here or at [email redacted]
May god bless all of you with health, happiness and grant your heart's desires in the coming year!
