Matt’s “Rebuild” from Hurricane Ian

Hi. This is Kim Thomas, Matt’s Mom. My older son, Matt, moved to Fort Myers (apartment) with a friend just 2 weeks ago to start a new life after a break up with a long term girlfriend. He evacuated for Hurricane Ian and upon his return, found he and his roommate’s first floor apartment had taken on 2 1/2 ft water and ruined all furniture and most of his belongings . He packed his music gear (he’s a musician) and thought he moved his car to a safer higher level. Apparently, not high enough! His car and all the belongings inside were flooded!

My poor guy has ALL the major stressors in life happening at one time.

Some of you have reached out to me with a desire to “help” my son. Your kindness is so appreciated. Many folks in Southwest Florida have been impacted by this devastating hurricane. Fort Myers and Naples really took a hit! It will take a while for many to rebuild. My heart goes out to all that have been affected!

Matt is without power and internet so I am unable to post any his current situational photos. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity in helping my older son rebuild his life and feel some normalcy.
