Help get medical teams into Nepal

My name is Nick Roberts and I work as a Registered Nurse and Emergency Paramedic.

In 5 days time I will be flying into Nepal as part of a medical aid team consisting of seven Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics in order to deliver medical assistance and mentoring to the Nepalese people.

Due to lots of red tape currently involved with aid agencies entering the country I will be purchasing my own flights, insurance and on-ground costs.
I will also be volunteering my time and taking leave without pay for the 3 weeks I will be out there.

Our mission is to develop a long term presence for when other aid agencies pull out of the country.  The volunteer organisation I am travelling with have been delivering medical outreach programs into Nepal for the last 3 years and have already developed many relationships within the healthcare industry of Nepal.

Initially our group will be leaving 2 medical staff in Kathmandu to assist and mentor the current Nepalese effort and assist with logistical matters on the ground.  The rest of the team will be travelling to the end of the road  (literally), 3.5hours drive from Kathmandu.  Here 2 more of the team will re-inforce a 15 bed medical clinic and hospital whilst the remaining 3 (this is my part) trek past the end of the road into one of the hardest hit areas.  This area has currently received no aid and reports from tourists trying to exit the area have been sporadic and unreliable.  We need to get an initial team into this area to assess the level of damage and aid needed in order to plan a more sustained response.

The plan as it currently stands is to have teams of 6-8 medical staff rotating through the country every 2-3 weeks for at least the first 3 months and then every 4-8 weeks after that.

So what do I need from you?

MONEY - quite simply this is a grab for cash.  Any money received will pay for airfares, travel insurance, in-country costs and satellite phone hire.  Whatever is left after covering  costs will go straight to the volunteer aid organisation to be further spent on supporting the aid effort.  We have been overwhelmed with medical supplies but do need to spend money on buying much needed medications.
