BORN TO HELP...
As a medical science student, I have a passion to help those in need. This new year, I have set myself a challenge to engage in serving those who are underprivileged.
To start achieving this goal, I have signed up for the Gap Medics placement to help assist and support the local community hospitals of Santo Domingo (S.D) in the Dominican Republic.
Why you should donate?
· The Caribbean is home to many small and isolated communities, there is a chance to make a real difference.
· The community healthcare services to these areas are underdeveloped, inadequate and have insufficient amount of staff to care for those who need medical attention.
· Volunteer programs are costly, however it is undoubtedly that no amount of money can compare to the valuable experiences that are achieved in helping other people who may be less fortunate.
The funds you donate will give me an opportunity to work voluntarily to provide and deliver basic but much-needed healthcare to these local communities.

Previously, back in June 2017 I had the chance to experience my first volunteering program with the association, VESA Volunteers.
As difficult as it was, my participation in this was paid by a part-time job that I had worked for several months whilst pursuing my studies in university, as well as small donations from close friends and family.
VESA gave me the opportunity to support and provide remote villages in Puerto Misahuallí, Ecuador with communal bathroom facilities for the local families, help restore the local village school amenities and I also got to teach English to amazing primary school children.
The program made me realise how much basic necessities are taken for granted and how much impact an individual can make.
