Vision for the Future: Please help save my eye!

Hi everyone, my name is Meg. I know I’m not the first person you probably know who's had to do this, and I know it is a long shot, but some of you may already be aware of the litany of medical issues that I have been faced with in the past couple of years, at least in some part. For those who don’t know me or my little crew, we’re a family of four (five counting the cat). We normally enjoy taking the kids out on adventures and having a grand time as a family, however the medical bills are piling up at this point. Before the medical issues took over, I was a happy mother of two that was quite prone to taking the kids out for weekly adventures and enjoyed working and having a full life with our circle of friends and family. As my health has gotten worse and the injuries more severe, (I broke my back earlier this year and also managed to heck up my s4/s5 in the tailbone, and yay me, I’m not a good candidate for surgery due to the shape of my spine) I’ve found it harder and harder to be able to be the kind of mom I want to be, to be the kind of person who just gets things done. I’m starting to feel more and more restricted and I don’t want to consider the kind of freedom I’d have to give up if I don’t get my eye fixed… the kind of freedom my kids would be giving up. I’m not asking for enough to wipe out the entire cost of things, but any help… any breathing room… would be a tremendous help.

It has been a long road to not only figure out some of the things that have been wrong but also to find effective treatments. I haven’t been working with how much I’ve been in and out of the hospital with multiple surgeries and procedures, and frankly, it has taken a toll. I have never done this nor did I expect to do this, but here I am. I need help.

I recently had to go to the ER for an eye hemorrhage and was transferred out of state via ambulance to another hospital. Today was my follow-up, and I am going to be going back for surgery in a couple of weeks to try to save the eye. We’ve been able to mostly cover my medical expenses this year, but the total has gone beyond what our little nest egg can handle.
